About Babydoll Southdown Sheep
Olde English Babydoll Southdowns are a small heritage breed. It is a hardy breed of sheep known for its ease of care. Babydolls make wonderful pets and companions because of their small size and gentle nature. They are known as 'The Smiling Sheep' because of their woolly teddy bear faces. In addition to being great pets, Babydoll Southdowns are excellent for organic weed control and lawn mowing (they are often used in orchards and vineyards), good wool producers, and easygoing barnyard companions.

About Hillmeadow Farm
Hillmeadow is a 3rd generation family farm outside of Drayton, Ontario. Hillmeadow Farm is owned and operated by Brad, Lauren, Sandy, & Doug. We are primarily a dairy farm breeding and milking registered Holsteins, but we also raise Australian Cobberdogs and Babydoll Southdown Sheep. We believe that animal husbandry should be carried out with diligent work, compassionate care, continuing education, and business integrity. Our farm adheres to a current Nutrient Management and Environmental Farm Plan. We maintain on farm bio-security and all animals in our care receive regular veterinary care with a large animal veterinarian doing Farm Health checks every two weeks.
Why Babydoll Southdown Sheep? We all like sheep, Lauren especially! They are peaceful creatures and very easy keepers. They do a great job at maintaining grass and pasture areas which is an ongoing responsibility when caring for a large property! We love the smaller size of the Babydolls as it's a lot easier for Lauren to be involved in care- plus we have a lot of children that visit us at the farm that can safely interact with our flock. |
